Chinese New Year in Penang

I am finally back!!!!

phew..
I went to Penang for my CNY holidays..
It was just like what one of my buyers said, "The whole KL traffic will literally migrate to Penang."
She didn't mention that it includes human traffic other than car traffic.
This is at Gurney Drive... the food court. Nobody is standing.. Everybody is like sitting and there is barely any space to move about at all. How crazy is this wei.
We waited for half an hour for the current table to finish eating.

I played fireworks outside Gurney Drive. The brown blur is the shaking and screaming me.
Tips for taking fireworks : Use slow shutter speed.
If you are using normal camera, use the setting that always get your shots blur no matter how steady you hold your camera.

We went to most of the temples and historical places in Penang.. This is at the Peranakan Mansion, home of the Baba and Nonya..
The house has a very nice colour scheme to it.. greens and reds..

So many vintage antiques and props.. pose pose camwhore..
I am a baba nonya yay.

Posing tips 101 : When crossing your legs, place them side by side and slanting both of them to one direction. Slant your shoulders!!

What kinda blardy pose is this. but the colour scheme so nice. pink and greens i like!!

Better now. I bought the pink umbrella hehe.. for future photoshoots.
Looking for a nice chinese fan now.

Koi fishes for dinner.

Kek Lok Si pagoda temple.. I din bother to climb it or enter.. haha..
cuz it is surrounded by so many pretty flowers outside.. I was trying to do macro photography with my Skinny T that I won from Kakiis Night Out.

Camera not bad wei.. can zoom and move into the flower pretty close.

Can you believe this is done using a consumer camera and not my Nikon SLR??
OMG..
Tips for photography composition.. Never shoot your objects dead center unless there is a creative intention to it.. like the penang bridge shot.. cuz the bridge makes a nice symmetry composition.

Depth of Field is very nice when you can catch it in photography..especially if there is something really near that is blur and the objects in the background is blur too!!

Posts will resume tomorrow.. peace out ladies!!

Hair Bun with a Stick tutorial

Hihi.. here is a neat tutorial on using sticks to create hair buns!
You can use anything from chopstick, hair accessories, sticks, pens, pencils .. whatever that is long and thin. (sounds wrong haha)

Gather all your hair in a ponytail with your hand.

Twist your hair into a bun like so.
This is important.. your hair is like a thick string twisted into a bun, so there is a hole in the middle right?

Poke the stick from below and through the hole in the middle just like in the photo.

Reverse the stick to an upright position. If you are doing it right your hair should feel really tight.

Slide your stick all the way into your hair.

There. done!!
But if you are a first timer, you should redo your steps so that it is not so tight and its more comfortable for you.

Easy wasn't it?
It looks like this from the front.

Bling Bling Nails!

How is your Chinese New Year so far?
You cannot go through Chinese New Year with nude nails! NO!!!
Glam them up with some bling blings to give you luck when you gamble!

Ingredients :
1. Toothpick... Why did I put there toothbrush. wtf. LOL
2. Cotton Pad
3. Tweezers
4. Nail Buffer
5. Tiny Brush
6. Bling blings
7. Basecoat, top coat
8. 2 colour of your choice in matte
9. the same 2 colours but in shimmer.

Before the plastic surgery

You can make your own nail polish corrector by following the steps above!
You can use it to rub off nail polish that is on your skin which is very near the nail.
I am no manicurist ok.... I am doing this the guerilla style just by using my inner artist's common sense!!

After making your nail polish corrector. Buff your nails. First sand them so that your nails are smooth, after that shine them up!

You will get a healthy shine at the end of the buff something like this.

Paint on a coat of base coat on your nails. This is to make sure your nail polish stays on for as long as it can! (I think)

Paint your nails white or the lighter colour if you are using other colors.
Don't worry if your edges aren't clean, you can use the nail polish corrector to clean them up at the end!
Wait for them to dry.

Using the small brush, get the red/darker colour and dab from the bottom slowing moving up!
You will get a gradient effect like above.
Sorry la, I don't have an airbrush thingie.. so I made do with brush dabbing. Works what. hehe.

At the end, you get something like this. Wait for them to dry.

Now use the white shimmer and apply on the white area only.

Then use the pink shimmer and apply on the red area. Paint a little over the white area to blend the 2 colours together.

Pick up a big diamond and stick it on your nails after applying Top Coat on the back of the diamond as the glue.
Use the tweezers for easy application.

After you are done, you will get something like this.

Now, stick on the smaller diamonds.
First, paint your nail with the top coat. Its impossible to pick them up with the tweezer so use the toothpick, dip it in the top coat.
Use the toothpick to pick up the diamond and stick them on your nail.
Work on one nail at a time.

You will get something like this.

Now use the nail polish corrector and rub off all the nail polish that is on your finger skin. Clean up all the nail edges.

Finish off by applying 2 coats of top coat on your nails!
Remember to apply more on the bling bling area!

Tada!! So shiny!!!

Now I look like some rich girl. Good. I am going to play mahjong now. pfeh.

For the first time, I suceeded in giving myself a nice nail art.

Chinese New Year Look

Hi everybody..
I am so stressed out.. hope yall can help me with this..
You all know I have been selling the pigment palletes all these while, in the beginning everything was fine and dandy. I wrapped them up with newspaper and put them in an envelope.. go for pos laju and its done!
Everybody is happy.. no complaints.
EDIT : I HAVE NOW UPGRADED TO BUBBLE WRAP PACKAGING. NO COMPLAINTS SO FAR!
Up until now.. I have been packaging my palletes the SAME way.. but recently (the past few weeks) I have been receiving some complaints from my buyer saying that the pallete are damaged.

Then I was paranoid. I started putting like 4 stacks of newspaper in the envelopes.. it was heavier, more expensive.. but the results are still the same.
damn poslaju.

I don't know what I can do to solve this problem..
Should I use bubble wrap? cuz its also thin and then same thing may happen
or change postal service? citylink.. skynet??

Help!!!

Any help is appreciated girls!!

Moving on.. I dared yall to post skimpy pics just like my Sexed Up Look last week.. and in return I will give the blogger a pigment pallete.
Esther posted hers in her blog and got a free pigment pallete!

Photobucket
Well, thats the end of it.. hehe no more freebies in exchange for skimpy photos.

And now I give all of you the Chinese New Year Look!!

Brows.. I like to use light colours but shading my brows thicker these days due to the trend.

and the usual highlights on the brow bone using Shade 1 and 2 from the pigment pallete. You can use any light colour of course.

I then use Shade 64 on my lids as a base. When using pink or reds, please do not blend too near to the brow bone or your eye will look like a punchbag!!
You can also use any pale red colour for this.

After that I used Majorca Majolica's pink shimmer. The picture of the eyeshadow is down below. I used the pinkie on the inner corner of the eye. This lightens up the red base.
The one I use is the one on the left.

After that I used Shade 73 on the outer corner of the eye. Blend well, don't worry if your eye looks really punched up right now, This is just the base you see. You can also use a dark pinkish red for this.

There, all corrected. hehe.. Use Shade 18 and 29 and brush over all the colours on your eye. This will give your lid a double tone with red underneath and pink on top.
The result will be lighter, sweeter but more intense due to the red underneath.
You can also use any pale pink eyeshadow for this!

Line your eyes up with eyeliner. Remember, its Chinese New Year!! Give your lines a drag at the outer corner so that it slants up like a cat!

Apply mascara!! I used the Feather lashes from Blushberry Lashes Collection.

Use shade 7 to 51 for the blusher. For the lips, prepare them with nude liner or concealer before putting on a pale pink lipgloss!
Hair bun tutorial next week! Remember how Zhang Ziyi fixed up her bun with only a chopstick in Rush Hour? If you own a stick, bun stick, pencils, pens or chopsticks you can follow the tutorial next week!

Get lots of angpow and drive safe during this festive season alright!! Remember, the saman for speeding is RM 300 if you are caught red handed!!! Buckle up behind too.

Its been so long since I last shot using this background. Hehe.. my photographer's skill has improved.

One more thing, if you are bored during Chinese New Year check back at BlushBerry, we will have articles up next week (and an explicit shoot too!)

Keep your angpows safe!! Don't leave your bag anywhere!! Remember to head to the bank once your back! No more shopping.. control! (Seems like I am trying to warn myself instead of yall.. haha)

Explicit Looks : Sexed Up

Through out the whole week I was paranoid.. I didn't know what to do.. the latest photoshoot was too porno to be posted in Blushberry!!!
When I have realized it, it was Thursday! OMG
*tears hair*

Then my friend gave me this idea.. why not throw in some sparkles and blings to cover the skin!!
What an idea!!

So, I finally finish editing the photos and I now present to you :

If you see properly.. my skin has some kinda glow..
We applied Johnson's baby oil all over my body.. some on my face.. which I desperately tried to hide in the photo using photoshop.
In my head I was thinking, "Blushberry is geared for women audience, no men is gonna see this!!!"
So heck it.

I splurged my savings on some items by Majolica Majorca.. I just lovvvee this brand!!!
I bought 3 eyeshadow shades.. they are sooo shimmery..*dances around happily*
I bought the pinkish, golden and the silver one!!!
And I even bought the gold eyeliner!!
GAHHHH!!!
SO HAPPY!!!

I went all Japanese for this shoot.. Thick but light brows.. using shade 55 and 65 from the pigment pallete.

Then the usual shade 1 for the browbone.. You can use any light colour of course.. Preferably without shimmer.

Then I used the silver shade for the inner corner of the eye.

And the pink for the middle.

Gold at the outer corner.. Its so tinkly shimmery!!!!

I used the gold eyeliner to liner my eyes..
The colour is so strong!!!! I am in love!!!

And then I line the outer half of my eye with black eyeliner and glam it up with mascara!

I look something like this before my hairdo.
My hairdo steps will be revealed next week!!

The photo on the left shows mua before putting the baby oil and the one on the right is all shiny!
I even look thinner.
In my head I thought, "GOOD!! I can do these poses well.."
omg.. I was so wrong.. it's difficult to be sexy without being slutty. *cries*

Here is the dumb me still thinking everything is alright and I am even enjoying myself.
The oil dries up too quickly too.. I had to reapply every now and then.. I used up half a bottle!!
My hair is so big!!!! Yall gotta check back next week to see what product I use..
My hair is fine and sparse but this products did not weigh down my hair!

We found out that by doing high angle shots, the sheen comes off nicely..
(I look flat here. yay)

You know what, I dare you to use baby oil and put on a skimpy clothing.
Post it in your blog.. if you do not have one, I WILL POST IT HERE.
Do it I'll give you any item you want from my blog for free.
GAH!

I have tons of other photos.. but it is not postable.
I have been busy doing the new layout for BlushBerry.. wanna upgrade to a CMS soon.
Wee~~
New Blushberry.. new blushberry..

Street Punk Look

Yo.. what happens when you take the metal and the screaming away from the punk look? You get the simpler, street punk look!
Think string bracelets and fedora hats.. with canvas shoes and street dance!

Start by taking a pencil eyeliner and filling your lids right up to the crease!
Remember to line your lower lashliner and blend. (Refer to the blusher photo below)
After that, take a small brush and smudge the eyeliner up like in the photo.
Remember, thick (not necessarily bushy) brows are in the trend nowadays, so go easy with your tweezers or eyebrow blade!

Use a bigger brush and smudge the eyeliner even more. Once it is nicely blended, use a little bit of black shimmery eyeshadow and layer on top of the eyeliner.

Stick on the false eyelashes. We use Light lashes from our lashes collection.

For the lips, lightly overlay with concealer or smudge with nude lipliner/lipstick.
When you do this, the actual colour of your lipstick will appear on your lips as our lips is tinged with red tones. It works especially for light coloured lipsticks.

Now, apply your favourite shade of frosty pink lipstick!
Remember to just apply a little dab and blend with your fingers or lip brush.

For the cheeks, apply a light coral pink blusher. If you have the pigment pallete, you can take a swipe of shade 8 to 52!

Leaving some strays, gather the top half of your hair back and comb.

Make a twist!

Clip 2 hair pins in an X shape.
Repeat for both sides of the hair!

Tuck back your fringe and backcomb the top part of your hair for volume!
Tada! You are done!

DIY Japanese Voluminous Hair!

We all love big hair!!
Especially when they are so voluminous they make us look like dolls.. hehe
Before the DIY:
1. Dye your hair a Tea colour.. or Gold colour.
2. Iris enlarging Contact Lenses
3. Fake lashes
4. Your hair should be long, preferably over your breasts.

Step 1: Get ready your hair curler. If you have a ceramic curler, make sure you curl your hair for a longer period of time.
Your curler barrel should be around 3 cm in diameter.

Step 2 : Determine where the curls are gonna start from.
This is entirely up to you, you may even curl the full length of your hair but for a more sexy and romantic look, start halfway down your hair.

Step 3 : Curl your hair in the direction shown in the photo.
Curl the rest of your hair this direction.
Remember, hold your curler horizontally.

Step 4 : Be careful when you are doing the back part of your hair. Don't get your fingers burnt!
For the hair near your nape, you can curl half the length of those hair.
For the hair near your crown, curl 2/3 of those hair.

Step 5 : Remember to curl ALL of your hair in the same direction and by holding your barrel horizontal.

Nearly done!!!!!
This is how you should look like after curling all of your hair.

The side view.

Step 6 : The secret weapon. Hair extensions.

If you have thin or sparse hair, use more hair extensions but for normal hair, use 5 hair extensions. You can get them here!

Step 7 : Curl your hair extensions. They are real hair so they can be curled!
Oh, remember to dye them so that they are the same colour as your hair!
You can also curl them after you clip them on to your head but it is not advisable though.

Step 8 : Clip one of the extensions halfway down your head, remember to part the hair first before doing this.

Step 9 : Clip another one right ON TOP of the existing one

Step 10 : Clip another one of the extensions 1/3 from the top of the head.

Step 11 : Clip the remaining 2, one on your left and another one on your right.

Use your hands to comb your hair instead of a comb because the comb might cause the extensions' clips to come loose.

Tada!!!

Phoenix Eyes

I found this makeup in deviantart.. its oh so pretty.. I wish I have macro lens , then I will be able to take photos like this too!!
I couldn't help but convert this into regular everyday makeup!

To something like this!!

Wet your brush and apply some shimmer all over your eyes!

For your browbone, use a light yellow colour. I used shade 13 for this. Do not wet your brush for this application!

Using the same yellow, wet your brush this time and apply at the inner corner of the eye!
Make sure that the yellow that comes out are really intense and pigmented by wetting your brush first!

Use orange and apply AROUND your upper and lower crease, ignoring the crease itself. We are gonna fill the rest of the skin in with colour later.
I used shade 42 from the pigment pallete.

Now use red..preferably orangey red.. like shade 53 from the pigment pallete, which I am using.
Fill in the crease area which you ignored earlier one. Leave some space as there will be one last colour for the next step. So you are actually working from the outside going INSIDE, instead of the normal conventional way of working from inside to out.
This is because it is easier to start with lighter colours and our lighter colours are surrounding our eyes and also, we do not need to clean our brush that often when apply from light colours to dark colours.

Finally, take purple. I used shade 41 and fill in the rest of the areas.

It should look something like this... outer ring =orange
middle ring= red
inner ring = purple.

Line your eyes with black eyeliner!

Tada!!

A conventional and less complicated phoenix-like eyes!

Hope yall like it!

Makeup and Hairstyle based on Face Shape

Standard Face
Suits any type of hairstyle, makeup or brows.
Congratulations if you have this face shape!

Round Face
People with round faces looks cute and lovely with raised eyebrows and apple blushed cheeks.
Pair this with a soft, flirty hairstyle with a few hair-ends teased.
Always apply less makeup to the outer corner of your eyelids so that your face do not look bigger.

Square Face
If you have a square face, you will most likely succeed in interviews as your face shape projects integrity and intelligence.
For your hairstyle, you need more volume to balance the lack of roundness in your face structure.

Heart Shaped Face
Raise your eyebrows up just a little and curl the ends of your hair to give a very romantic look to yourself!
This face shape is very feminine and soft, if you are a corporate woman make sure you dress smart so that people take you seriously!

Long Rectangular Face
For this face.. you need thick brows, rough eyebrows suits you the best.
Think Keira Knightley.
Your hairstyle needs alot of volume to make up for your long face shape. Try not to leave your hair longer than your chin because it will elongate your face even more!

Long Triangular Face
If you have a face like this, you most likely project a very intelligent and hard-to-approach aura.
So make sure you do not wear any strong colored lipstick or you will chase all the men away from you!
Soften your look by dyeing your hair and giving your eyebrows a light, soft colour. Remember to pluck your eyebrows to be thinner than it already is.
Keep your lips sweet with gloss!

Oval Face
If you have this face, most probably strangers will be assuming that you are very well off and rich. Be careful not to wear too many accessories and makeup as this will make you look gaudy.
Go soft with your eyebrows and makeup.
Make sure your hairstyle is in the latest style, or you will look older than your real age as people always associate wealthiness with age.

Rainbow Makeup

When you are feeling blue.. and everything seems gloomy and dark.. brighten up your day with colourful makeup!

Line your wet lower lash line with cyan eyeliner.

That's the cyan eyeliner I used.. so fat and thick I know!!!
And line the outer corner of your lower lash line with the dark blue eyeliner.

Take yellow and apply on the inner corner of your eye. You need to do the wet application cuz Yellow pigments do not show up well on our skin. Just wet your brush before you pick up the color.
I use shade 13 for this step!

Fill the red of your lids right up to the brow bone with orange. I used shade 42.
Remember to blend over the yellow!

Vermillon Red or Orange for this step is recommended. Try not to use reds that are tinted with blue..for example Shade 75 from the pigment pallete. You should use shade 53 instead.
Apply on the outer corner of your eye and blend up!

Clean your brush as we are moving to the application of cool colours now!
Use a yellowish green for this step, I use shade 47 and apply on the inner corner of my lower lashline.

Take an Aqua Blue for the middle section of your lower lashline. I use Shade 71 from the pigment pallete.. Remember to blend well!

You can use any dark blue colour for this step.
I use 2 shades by dabbing my brush on Shade 83 and 72 before applying on the outer corner of my lower lashline!

The final colour is a soft purple colour. Use this colour to blend the dark blue and the red together! I used shade 41.

I line my upper lashline with liquid eyeliner!

For your blusher, you can try using yellow if you are adventurous.. You can use bright fuschia pink for your lips!

DONE!
You can always reverse the colours... Right now it is hot colours on top and cool colours at the bottom but you can switch them!

For night makeup.. you can smudge your eyeliner to blend a little on to your colours!
Remember to wash and clean your brush often when applying this makeup as your brush will get quite dirty from all the many colours!

Goodnight!!!
Hope you like it!

Winner's Announcement!

Sorry bout the lack of posts last week.. I had fallen so very sick.
I had flu, fever and cough.. I slept through the week.
I am rejuvenated now!!!!!
I CAN EAT A HORSE!!!
and to make up for my lack of post last week.. this week I will have one post DAILY!
WOOT

First of all, let me explain how the judging system works.
1. No copy pasting
2. The quantity of tips you gave counts
3. The quality of the tips you gave determines the result.
For example.. if you give 5 tips.. and 2 of them is good.. but another gave 4 tips.. and all 4 are good.. The one that gave 4 will win.

So even if you write like a meter long paragraph but only have 3 tips inside..you are in a disadvantage to those that write 5 sentences with 5 great tips!

As I was reading all the tips.. there are some that gave like 9 tips.. but only 1 is really really good.. I feel really bad eliminating those tips..

Those of you that didn't win.. Don't worry.. there are plenty of competitions coming up anyway...

Below are the winners and I will bold their tips out for yall to read!

Ok.. 3rd prize winner :

Hallu!

I think that before we start making up, the first thing we need to do is analyze our face (especially our eyes, because it's the window to the soul!), because make up is supposed to fix our flaws! :)

Eyebrows:

A must for me, is not the eyeliner nor the concealer, but my eyebrows o_o

Eyebrows basically determine the overall 'feel' or a certain characteristic to our look. It sort of like give life to our face, and enhance our eyes (and our stare) too. Just like how the shape and quality of eyebrows of characters in anime and cartoons works with their emotions and their personality! :)
If you have wide set eyes, you can shape your eyebrows more inwards to your inner corner of the eyes, while close set eyes do the opposite, shape it and fill it in until the outer corner of the eyes and lengthen it a little, so the eyes will look wider apart. But only if your natural brow shape allow! It does not work on everyone though.

Brow powder is good for sparse brows, and it's suitable for a less intense look or a lightly-shaded brow. But I personally use brow pencils to fill in my brows for I have thicker brows. Eyebrow pencil/powder color should match with our hair too, eg. black hair with black brows, brown hair with brown... but when we apply brow pencils/powder, remember to do it lightly so that the color is slightly lighter than our hair, or else it might turn out to be too intense or not natural. Always refer to our natural brow shape and follow or tweak the shape a little, but not too much.

Eyeliner:

Although black eyeliner really helps to widen our eyes, but for small eyes, single eyelids, hidden double eyelids or thin double eyelids, it's best to keep the line thin, so that it doesn't cover the thin (or hidden) double (or single) eyelids, or else it'll make the eyes appear smaller. :(

Black eyeliner is essential in defining the shape of the eye. For example, if the eyes are too wide apart from each other, we can line our eyes slightly thicker in the inner corner; while for close set eyes, we can line our eyes thicker and longer at the outer corner too, so that it helps to balance up the distance. It's only a suggestion, it might not work for everyone, because we have unique eyelids and eyes. :)

Yikes, sorry for the wall of text, I suck in summarizing. Have a wonderful day girls!

Apply foundation and then concealer. By applying the foundation first, you see exactly where you still need more coverage.

When applying eyeliner:
Instead of stretching the side of the eyelid, use a cotton bud instead. Gently press the tube of the cotton bud onto the crease of the eyelid. This will stretch the eyelid without over stressing the skin. Stretching/pulling the side of the eyelid will cause premature wrinkles.
Also, when applying eyeliner, start from the middle of the eyelid and make your way to the side; this will help to determine the thickness of the eyeliner.
If you're felt like you woke up with your eyes extra small, grab a white eyeliner and draw a line on your waterline. This will cause your eyes to appear bigger and you look more awake.

When curling the eyelashes:
Always curl the eyelashes before applying mascara. The padding of the curler should be replaced time to time because it does and eventually wears out.
For stubborn eyelashes, if you don't want those heated eyelash curlers, heat the curler up by blasting it with the hairdryer, but not to hot! cause it might burn your skin in the process.

Get a good eyeshadow primer. This will help for the eyeshadow to stick on the eyelid and to prevent fall outs onto the face. Also, a good primer helps in making the colour more striking and more vibrant. If fall outs do happens, put a tissue underneath the eye when applying eyeshadow; so that fall out will land on the tissue and not on the face.
Use a lip liner. Smudge the liner and blend it with your fingers to make it look not so obvious before applying lipstick/lipgloss.

When using longlasting lipgloss:
Apply longlasting lipgoss products on dry lips and wait for the product to dry. Moist will cause the product to fade and it wont last that long. So for longer lasting lipgloss, apply on dry lips and wait for it to dry.

this is tips i pickup from everywhere and proven to be a good result (to me at least):

dos and donts:

- try not to use a maybelline foundation to your skins. while it feels good to your face, you will end up looking oily and shiny half way after the make-up was put on.

- use a cream based foundation while you are on flight to anywhere. it won't accidentally spill like liquid based and won't dusty like powdered ones. let your face makeup free until 30 minutes before it landed on your destination.

- skincare : try nixoderm for your skin and dont put too much on the surface, just a light one. your red bumps will disappear in the morning. however it wont work for pimples that's already showing. it will give you less after effect than any other skin cream (such as large pores and sensitive skins).

- another skincare for blackheads : take the white part of the egg, take one layer of tissue , dab it in and put it layer by layer to the part that has pimples and blackheads until it looks like a mask. leave it to dry on your face and peel it off slowly. wash your face before and after and afterwards use a toner to close the open pores.

- never throw out your lip gloss, you can save a lot on almost finished lip gloss. put them in a mug, fill it with water. put them in a microwave and let it heat up for 3-4 minutes. take it out and you will see you have so many lip glosses left and you saved your money than keep buying new ones.

I will email the winners personally after this post is up.
Cherrios and thanks for sticking to this blog..
