Twilight Movie Review!

I am not disappointed after all!!! WEE~~!

No spoilers ahead.. no worries.


Ok.. good points first :
1. Cinematography
The cinematography is amazing, every shot is meticulously painted with beauty. The simulated fog, the mood, the atmosphere.. it really pulls the movie out of the Harry Potter jinxed book-to-movie failures genre. So no worries for those who are expecting a half assed book turned into a lousy movie.. it is definitely NOT.
The lighting is amazing, I love the film filters as well.. greenish blue which sets the rainy mood of Forks.
The baseball scene and the scene where James walks in with the trio is spectacular. epic and breathtaking. Great camera angles.

2. Directing
Catherine Hardwicke does not disappoint. I caught one of her movies before when I was in an Evan Rachel Wood craze, Thirteen. Nikki Reed is also in it(Rosalie in Twilight). Her style of directing is very real.. keeping a thin line stretched between dramatic performance and real-life non acting.
She managed to save alot of bad points in the movie (will be mentioned later)

3. Acting + Chemistry
The acting is great. not amazing. but great for 2 very young actors. or . more than 2.
The chemistry is definitely there. Kristen Stewart pulled her character better off than Robert Pattinson did. but he is oh. so. delicious.
cold sashimi.
Oh. did i mention that Stephanie Meyer makes a cameo in one of the scenes?

4. Soundtrack
The wide variety of music really sets the mood. Some of it is from Stephanie Meyer's personal Twilight soundtrack collection as well!
I am so buying the soundtrack. Debussy Clair de Lune here I come.

Bad Points ahead :
1. Awkward Editing at times
Every scene in the forest is awkward... you feel so awkward you wanna turn away from the screen. Everything seems so staged despite the great acting. Not the baseball scene though.
But all the love scenes in the forest makes you cringe closer to your seat and makes you wish you didn't drag your boyfriend to the cinema.

2. Bad Action Choreography
The fast running, climbing.. is bad. bad bad.
Though the last climax scene was saved by the cinematography.
and the non-existent fangs don't help.
They need better choreography for future movies.

3. Makeup
Not that I am being impossible, but the vampires sorta looked... too corpse? They should have go easy on the white powder there. but other than that, they look completely gorgeous.


I am satisfied.
Will be able to sleep tonight.

Make Up Looks: Teal Ocean

Hey hey.. today we are gonna show our version of this look!

Eyeshadow that reaches the brows.. wow.
Let's go!


We will be using the 88 colours pigment pallete.. used by Xsparkage in youtube.
You can get one for yourself here!

Prepare your face with foundation and concealer..Powder your face and fill in your brows.

We mix colour no. 2 and 13.. just dab on both colours...
and apply on the brow bone area.

We painted a triangle .. points : inner brow, inner tear duct, 1 cm below the brow tail.
We use colour no. 6

Using colour 49, we apply on the outer half of the eyelid.

Using colour 77, we brush the lower eyelid and the very last corner of the upper eyelid

Line the lower lashes with liquid liner.
For the upper lashes, line halfway starting from the end.

Apply bronzer, not blusher on the whole area below your cheekbone like the shadow area above.
Highlight your nose tip and put on an autumn nude lipstick!

We stumbled upon a variety of cool caps in I am Fashion.

Knitted woolies are great!.. though its not practical here locally but they are thick enough to balance off the look that we wanna pull off, you can't do it with scarves of you'll risk looking as if your hair is receding.
Caps are all in the rage cuz its winter now.. but for locals who wanna have a taste of the winter fashion, not to worry.. we are here!

They somehow managed to merge neck scarf and a hood together.. it looks weird...
Unless the neck part extends slightly lower towards the shoulder.. it is definitely an item no one dares to wear.. well, unless it appears in Gossip Girls.

So when the fashion is turned into a knitted woolie.. it looks off.
Turn it back into a scarf for the beaches, please.

Make Up Store : Group Workshop a Success!!!

Yesterday, Make Up Store had a group workshop catered especially for BlushBerry's readers!
I had a great time meeting everybody.. but I must apologize for wearing sunglasses.. my contact lens hurt so much, my eyes were red and makeup were like smudged.. I rushed to get a pair of sunglasses to hide my monstrosity.

I invited Ringo from Cheeserland.com to come to our workshop too!

The workshop is coordinated by Emila Alvarez, Make Up Store's makeup artist from Sweden.
She is so beautiful and her hands can work magic!!
Ringo is placed as our bait..oops.. I mean model for that day.. haha
This is her pre-makeup look.. with butterfly clips in her hair!

Emila demonstrated 2 types of makeup on Cheesie's face, half of her face has day makeup and the other half night makeup.
The day one is purplish.. to suit her dressing that day.. and the night one is golden bronze like.. with blood red lips!

All our readers are listening intently to what Emila has to say...
They were all given the M magazine..and they were also all provided a set of makeup to use for the workshop.

This is Ringo checking out her dual makeup in a compact mirror..

The process is like these :
8 participants, 1 of them a model..
The Make Up Artist demonstrated 2 types of looks on the model.. while introducing the products and also educating the participants on how to apply make up.
Once the model is made up, each participant apply their own makeup.. assisted and supported by all the makeup artists in the venue.

Dual Ringo. Half brown, half purple. Half red, half sweet.
After the demonstration is done, the makeup artist removed the day makeup from Ringo and completed the other half of the night makeup!

For us locals.. Twilight opens this thursday and I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!
So despite my lethargy.. i can barely work.. nor blog.. nor work on my blog designs.. I m like a "______" corpse right now... I searched all the movie reviews for Twilight.

Results?

Out of 4 review, 3 are bad.
but all of them said that the movie will satisfy the books' fans.

"I was a little afraid to admit this in fear that rabid fangirls would track me down, bite me with their fake vampire fangs, smear strawberry jelly on my neck, drag me to the next showing of this shit and hold me down throughout the whole thing.

I wanted to go, but everyone told me to make sure and go to the 8 o'clock show. That shit is too early for me. They said that was when the tween vampires were out in full force. One of my friends said some 14-year-old bitch wouldn't stop crying and shrieked whenever Robert Pattinson was on the screen. And some of those girls already memorized the lines and shit. Apparently, the hos in the audience are more entertaining than the movie itself. It sounds like I'll need to be drunk, stoned and suffering from a minor concussion to deal with this fuckery.

I didn't go to see this shit, but tons of whores did, because it was the #1 movie at the box office with $70.5 million. That's a whole lot of allowance dollars. Not surprisingly, the sequel is already in the works and so it starts again.....

Lacquer & Lace : Tatiana Boots Review

Recently, I bought a pair of Tatiana boots from Lacquer & Lace..

I mean who can resist.. it looks fantastic.. as seen in Sex in the City, worn by Sarah Jessica Parker.
I was so excited that I decided to review this item in BlushBerry!

I had a fun time trying all the different ways of tying the shoelaces at the upper part.. and I found that lacing them zig zag makes the boot tighter and it looks better too!

We even did a photoshoot.. -_-
I just love the boots so much you know.. haha
but just like in the photo, the actual item looks great (even though it differs abit from the actual branded item = zip design and sole colour)
but it still looks fantastic!

To be honest.. I am very short... around 160 cm i think..
I was abit worried that this boots will make legs look shorter than it already is.. but to my amazement it looks longer!
I swear I didn't elongate them in Photoshop!!
It is probably due to the extremely high heel.. which makes the shoe great for posing and dinners but not ideal for a shopping day out.

Well, all in all .. it is a great buy!

Basic MakeUp Series VI : How to have kissable lips!

Last week, we talked about how to apply blusher to your cheeks.. if you missed it you can check it out at the table of contents above!

Today we are going to talk about apply makeup to our lips using:
1. Lipliner
2. Lipstick
3. Lipgloss

You do not have to use all 3.. but you can use just one or two.. it is all up to your preference.

Lipliner are good for plumping or making your lips seem smaller depending on where you draw them. If you draw them outside your lips, your lips will seem bigger... if you draw them inside your lipline.. then ur lips will seem smaller..
It is also good for people who have lips which is lopsided or misshapen.. you can correct them using the lipliner and concealer.


Lipstick are what it is.. it can be applied to your lips to create colour.. Just remember that your upper lips can be sometimes darker than your lower one and you need to cover the discoloration with lipliner and lipstick.

Lipgloss is the IN thing few years back.. everybody is using it. Glossy lips..
One bad thing is.. it is sticky.. our boyfriends hate it, our hair get stuck to it..
But we are all addicted to it.. it can make our lips juicier (looks juicier, feels sticky)
It is very important to buy a good brand.. all of them are sticky.. but there are some that are less sticky and is moisturizing to our lips.

A very light but effective makeup that makes your eyes look much bigger!!!

Ingredients :
Blue, Green and Gold Eyeliner
Lots of Mascara

Before you do anything, apply the mascara to your lashes.. Volumise and extend them with a good primer before the mascara.
Do this now so that you won't accidentally smudge your liners when you apply the mascara later.
Line the upper half of your top lash line with baby blue eyeliner.

The line the lower half with a green eyeliner.

Finish off with gold eyeliner for the rest of your lower and upper lash line.

Caps Fetish!!

We all love caps!!!

(because when we are in a hurry and have no time to style our hair, caps is the way to go!!!)
Beanies and Caps and Visors are so cool!!
Especially during this winter season..

Here are some caps on celebrities :

Loose beanies that hang loose from the head goes well with medium to long hair..
If you have a short fringe, it will look cool if you leave some of them out.. but you need to push your beanie further back.

The little badge hanging from the beanie is a cool accessory. A collection of badges will be nice :D
But try to stay away from beanies' seam that is thin like above.. They tend to make your fringe look really bad..

Well.. as you can see.. beanie is all about position.. like this one.. it is worn further to the back of the head. While the ones above are more suited to be worn close to the eyebrows.

Celebrity Looks : Keira Knightley

Hey girls!! Today, we'll start something new!

Mimicking celebrities' looks and makeups!
Well.. to start off the series.. we will try and get the Keira Knightley Look.
ps. Our final photo has been retouched to match the background, lighting and her hair.. cuz the model doesn't have long hair :)
The makeup is genuine though :D

So, before we start.. we have to understand Keira's most prominent features.
Just 2 important notes, that's all :
1. Thick and full eyebrows
2. Heavy under eye makeup

If you see the photo above... that's actually her most prominent features and makeup artists love to play these 2 features up.. while keeping her face and lips as bare as possible.

Now that we know her secret.. we will try and create her look!

First, apply foundation as usual.

After that, use concealers on these parts of your face... your eye area.. the area between your cheek and nose .. and finally your lower lip line.
Remember to apply more concealer on your eyebag area as we are going to go heavy in that area with a dark color, you don't wanna look punched :D

After that, pencil in your brow.
The important thing is not to drag the tail(ends) too long or too far down.
Fill up the higher parts and lower parts to make it thicker and fuller.
Use a soft brown coloured brow pencil.

After that, use a darker shade of brow pencil and fill in these parts(in the blue area) with feathery strokes.. as if you are drawing in extra strands of hair.

Now, comes the eye makeup.
1. Fill your brow bone area with a white matte pigment
2. Apply shimmery white pigment to the corner of your tear ducts
3. Apply a brown pigment on your upper lids.. blend well. Now apply them on your lower lids as well.. This is the important part remember?
4. Use a dark brown/black colored pigment and apply at the outer corner of your upper and lower lids. Remember to blend well
5. Use the shimmery white and dab on the inner half of your upper eyelid. When you open your eyes, you will see that your crease is more defined at the inner corner of the eye (like in figure 6)
6. Use your eyeliner and line your upper lash line. After that, line your lower lid. DON'T line the full length instead line the CENTER part only..

Curl your lashes..
Use the kinda mascara which has a white end and a black end.
The white base gives more volume and length to the lashes before you apply the black one.
Coat your top and bottom lashes heavily with the white base if your lashes are thin and sparse.. Otherwise, just do it the usual way.
Finish up with the black mascara.
Stick on a false eyelash on the upper lash line!

For your lips.. Smudge a nude lipliner all over your lips to soften the colour of your lips.
Use a very pale orangey pink lip gloss/lipstick over your lips.

Finally, finish up with blusher.. a pale pink colour will do!

How to apply false lashes by Chamber of Babylon

I know many of them already know how to apply false lashes but few of my beloved girls requested a post on how to apply false lashes. So here it is.

This is the new lashes that I will be selling, COB 001-003


1. First, measure the lash according to the size of your eye or length that you desire.




2. Then trim them.


3. Curl your lashes.


4. Apply lash glue on the lash bone.
*tips: leave it for a while till your glue is half dried before applying. This will make your glue stickier and easier to stick on your lids.


5. Start by adjusting your false lash at middle of the eye, hold it still for a few second before proceeding to do the same on the inner corner of your eye.


6. once you make sure that both the sides are in the required position, hold the end of the false lash to the outter corner of your eye and give a genlte pressure to your eyelid so that the false lash stay in place


7. Before the glue is fully dry, lightly push the lash upwards to make it curl.





8. Gently push your lash downwards and upwards to make sure that it sticks firmly on your lids.


9. Done with applying the lash.



10. Apply eyeliner on top of your false lash to make the lash bone least obvious.


11. Apply mascara so that your real lash will attached with the false lash.


12.This time curl you real and false lash together. (Be very careful, make sure your false lash doesn't come out, if not you will have to start over again)


13. Finished with lower liner and TADA!~ DONE~

Last week, we talked about shading your brows.. we are going to move on to the next step today by talking about how to apply blusher on your cheeks based on your cheek bone shape.


First of all, you should find out if your cheekbones are high or not.

For high and plump cheeks..your blusher can be applied like this :

For people with flat cheeks.. you have to apply DIAGONALLY, slanting from your sideburns towards the tip of ur nose..
but don't go all the way. just halfway will do.

Japanese Short Bob Hairstyle

Soft perm is the craze nowadays.. with heavy fringe and wispy strays of hair to suggest a light volume.
This kinda hairstyle seems easy enough with a touch of the right kind of wax.

Notice the Side Profile.. the fringe is parted from the center of the top.
This hotspot is the trick of getting ANY japanese hairstyle.
If you try to part your hair like this, you may find that some hair from that area is much much longer than your fringe due to the way your hairstylist cuts them.
So, just chop them off according to the length of your fringe or the next time you visit your saloon, ask your hairstylist to part your hair from the hotspot.

When your fringe is parted from there, it is very easy to tease volume into your fringe by backcombing or using wax.

Other than that, a big curler can help achieve this style by lightly curling the ends of your hair.
Remember to dye your hair a flat shade of brown though!
